# MS Teams - Adding CallTower Teams Voice Connector App

## CallTower Teams Voice Connector Overview

The CallTower Teams Voice Connector app allows CallTower to provision various aspects of Teams Direct Routing and Operator Connect services for its customers. The app gives CallTower the necessary permissions to your tenant when running our provisioning scripts. Eventually, much of the provisioning will take place in CallTower’s Connect provisioning portal.

## Permissions requested

The CallTower Teams Voice Connector app requires the permissions below. Next to each permission is a description of what the permission is used for.

> These permissions are only required for direct routing customers.

| **Graph API Permission** | **Reason** |
| --- | --- |
| User.ReadWrite.All | Required for CallTower to build direct routing activation user accounts. Also used in pro services to build Teams resource account users associated with auto attendants and call queues. |
| LicenseAssignment.ReadWrite.All | Required to license direct routing activation users or to bulk assign phone system licenses for customers that have purchased pro services. |
| Domain.ReadWrite.All | Required for Direct Routing customers allowing CallTower to add and verify Direct Routing domains to the tenant. |

**Adding the app to a Microsoft 365 tenant**

To add the app to your tenant, you will need to be able to sign in with an account that has the Global Administrator role.

You can begin to add the app by clicking on one of the links below.

**For Commercial customers**

After clicking on the link, you will be prompted to login to your administrator account.

You will then be presented with the list of permissions requested by the app. Each permission has a drop-down arrow allowing you to review what each permission provides access to.

After clicking “**Accept**” you will be redirected to the page below and may close the window. If you see any other page than the image below, the app registration approval likely failed. Click the link on the page or return to this article to complete the setup with the steps below.

### **Granting the app Admin roles**

The CallTower Teams Voice Connector app uses application permissions to provision the services. In order for CallTower to connect to customers' tenants via the Microsoft Teams PowerShell module, the app will need to be given the "Teams Telephony Administrator" role. Documentation on this requirement can be found [here](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-powershell-application-authentication#setup-application-based-authentication). **Note for Operator Connect customers only**: If CallTower is also providing professional services to create Teams resource account that are associated with auto attendants and call queues, you will also need to repeat these steps for the "User Administrator" role. Documentation on this requirement can be found [here](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/rooms/create-resource-account?tabs=m365-admin-center%2Cgraph-powershell-password#requirements).

**Note:** If you would like CallTower to assign licenses on your behalf, repeat these steps and assign the "License Administrator" role to the CallTower Teams Voice Connector app.

1. Sign in to the [Microsoft Entra admin](https://entra.microsoft.com/) or [GCCH Entra admin](https://entra.microsoft.us)
2. Browse to **Entra ID** > **Roles & admins**
3. Click "Roles and administrators"

4. Search for the "**Teams Telephony Administrator**" role and click on it anywhere under the red line shown below. Please Note: clicking the checkbox on the screen below will not do anything, be sure to click on the role name.

1. Select the role, then click "**Add assignments**"
2. Search for and select the app "**CallTower Teams Voice Connector v2**" or, "**Calltower Teams GCCH Voice Connector**" for GCCH. Then click "**Add**". Please Note: If you do not see the Voice Connector app from this page, it means the app failed to be added to your tenant. 3. The next screens you see will vary depending on whether your organization is able to utilize PIM (Privileged Identity Management).
